Interview from Inayat Ali Khan

An Interview with a comic poet Professor Inayat Ali Khan

A comic poet who belongs to a family of poets where his father and mother also used to do humorous poetry.    He has been an outspoken contributor the Urdu dailies  such as Jasarat , Ummat and Safeer.
Q: Tell me about yourself?
Inayat Ali: I was born in Rajasitan India in 1935. We migrated to Pakistan in 1948. I earned my degree of M.A in Urdu from Jamia Sindh in 1962. My father was a poet too and he used to be known as a very good comic poet of his time.
Q: Have you ever said poems for your family members?
Inayat Ali: Yes, I have said poems on my family too. I wrote poem for my brother who was an abnormal, also I wrote on my sister's death but these pieces are not safe now. I also wrote on my mother when she left this world, here is one stanza of that poem;
                                                       Tum Jo Mujh Ko Tu Khti Thi
                                                       Ab Kon Mujh Ko Tu Kahe Ga
                                                      Mere Saare Dukh Or Sadmen
                                                      Mujh Se Badh Kr Kon Sahe Ga..
Q:You won the prize on Children's poems how many poems you have written on children?
Inayat Ali Khan: I have been writing poem, stories etc for children for many years, so far I have written almost 40 stories for kids. In 2003 I was awarded "The Best Writer For Children". I have contributed efforts for syllabi books too in courses.
Q; What does role poetry plays in your life?
Inayat Ali Khan: I have passed my 87 years doing and writing urdu poetry. It is not only my passion but so far it is my wealth or my earning. Poetry is not temporary hobby it takes many of our life's time. Now I am satisfied with my all work because it is very difficult task to give people the reason of smile but I did it by my poetry.
Q: Who is your Favorite  poet and why?
Inayat Ali: Allama Iqbal is my all time favorite poet. He was the one who criticized over western world openly. He made the world known that we have our own identity. He  made it clear to the western world that their culture is not dominant to ours.
